No-IP.com Update Client
(work in progress)
The Dynamic Update Client that no-ip has available for download doesn't seem to work for me. Even though it is running as a service, it doesn't update my account. If you don't update the account every 55 days, the account gets suspended pending deletion. I get emails from them saying that I haven't updated in over 55 days and I check my server and the DUC is running so I'm wondering why it's not updating. So I decided to write one myself and see how it goes. So here it is. It's a work in progress but I already like it better than that one they give you.
Here's the main program screen. It should be pretty self-explanatory. If
it's not, why do you need it anyway?
To add a host, use the edit menu
Enter the Fully-Qualified-Domain-Name of the host you want to add and click OK.
Use the file menu to update your hosts. (note, the Install As Service option is
not yet implemented. As I said, work in progress)
You'll probably get a warning such as this if your reported IP matches your
current IP:
The results of the update are displayed after a few seconds:
That's really all there is to it for now. I plan install it as a service, minimize it to the tray, etc. But the wife keeps me busy and doesn't like me being on the computer too long, so time is limited. I'll keep working on it though. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
